Welcome to the practice of Dr David Walsh and Dr Loubè de Ridder

Terms and conditions

We aim to provide you with professional, high-quality medical care and clear information about fees and payments.

Our practice charges private tariffs, which may be different than what some medical aids reimburse to the doctors’ practice. If your medical aid pays less than our fee, you are responsible for the difference.

Consultation fees are fixed, but costs may vary depending on the type of doctor you see and the services provided.

Some items, such as medication and medical supplies, may not be covered by your medical aid.

We may submit claims to your medical aid on your behalf as a courtesy, but final payment responsibility remains with you.

Please speak to our staff before your appointment if you have questions about fees, payment options, or medical aid cover. We are happy to assist.

Medical Aid Information (South Africa–Specific)

Medical aids in South Africa work differently depending on your plan, benefit level, and provider network.

Our practice is a non-designated service provider (non-DSP) for most medical aids.
This means your medical aid may reimburse you at a lower rate, even if you are fully insured.

Some doctors in our practice are DSPs for specific medical aids or plans. In those cases, reimbursement may be higher or paid directly, depending on your scheme’s rules.

Medical aids usually reimburse according to their own internal tariffs, not the doctor’s actual fee. Any shortfall is for the patient’s account.

Submitting a claim does not guarantee payment by your medical aid.

Medical aids may exclude or partially cover:

Certain consultation types

Medical consumables

Medications given during your visit

We recommend that you contact your medical aid directly to confirm:

Whether your doctor is a DSP for your plan

What percentage of the consultation fee will be covered

Whether your benefits are available at the time of your visit
